SSM platform: what it is, what it does and how to choose one.
An SSM (occupational health and safety) platform is an online application in which a company keeps everything the law requires for occupational health and safety. It holds the employees, the training, the signed training records, the risk assessment, the equipment and the deadlines. Everything can be opened on a computer or a phone, with no paper files.

What the law requires
The obligations an SSM platform helps you keep up to date.
- Training in three stagesLaw 319/2006 and HG 1425/2006 require induction (general introductory) training, on-the-job training and periodic training, each recorded in the individual training record.
- Periodic trainingIt takes place at the interval set by the company: at most every 6 months as a general rule, and at most every 12 months for technical and administrative staff.
- Risk assessmentThe employer must have a risk assessment for every workplace and must redo it when conditions change.
- Emergency situationsLaw 307/2006 requires employees to be trained in fire protection and fire-fighting equipment to be kept up to date.
- Electronic signatureThe eIDAS Regulation and Law 214/2024 set out the types of electronic signature. A signature cannot be refused as evidence solely because it is electronic.
- Proof during an inspectionDuring an inspection by the ITM (the labour inspectorate) or the ISU (the emergency situations inspectorate), the company must show the training records, the risk assessment and the other documents. In a platform, they can be found and downloaded on the spot.

What is an SSM platform?
An SSM platform is an online application in which a company keeps everything the law requires for occupational health and safety: employees, training, signed training records, the risk assessment, equipment and deadlines. It opens on a computer or a phone and replaces paper files.
What does an online SSM platform mean?
It means the platform runs in the browser, with nothing to install. The data is stored on servers, and the person responsible for SSM, the employees and, where applicable, the external prevention service work in the same account, from anywhere.
Is an electronically signed SSM training record valid?
Yes. The eIDAS Regulation and Law 214/2024 recognise electronic signatures, and a signature cannot be refused as evidence solely because it is electronic. In EasySSM, training records are signed with an advanced electronic signature and receive a certSIGN qualified electronic seal.
Is an SSM platform mandatory?
No. The law requires training, training records, the risk assessment and the other documents, not any particular software. An SSM platform makes these obligations easier to keep up to date, especially when you have many employees or several work sites.
Does an SSM platform replace the health and safety service?
No. The risk assessment, the training syllabus and prevention decisions are still made by a specialist: the designated worker, the internal service or the external prevention and protection service. The platform makes their work easier and keeps the documents in order.
Who uses an SSM platform?
Companies that handle SSM themselves, designated workers, internal prevention services and external services that work for several companies. Employees use it only to complete their training and test and to sign their training record.
What is the difference between an SSM platform and an SSM course?
An SSM course trains a person, for example the 40-hour course required of an employer who carries out the SSM activities personally in a small company. The SSM platform is the tool that person uses to keep track of training, training records and deadlines for the whole company.
